Solar heating provides green energy at Værum-Ørum CHP plant

Værum-Ørum CHP aim to contribute to the general climate goal and to convert heat production to a more sustainable and CO2 neutral heating.

The need for central heating in Værum-Ørum CHP's supply area are mostly covered by biomass heat supplemented with natural gas combined heat and power and natural gas heating. Today Værum-Ørum CHP plant has a heating central placed in Jebjerg.  On the heating central is a gas engine, a gas kettle and a wood pellet kettle plant.

By erecting a 8.278m2 big solar heating plant consisting of 657 solar panels, there is produced warm water to the heating plant. The warm water is stored in a 2.000m3 storage silo, enabling the plant to use the warm water at a later time.

The solar heating plant is connected with the existing central heating distribution system in Hammelvej. In the context of the solar heating plant a new building with exchangers, management etc is established.

When the solar heating plant is operating the consumers can look forward to an average reduction in heating prices at 2.750kr. per year.

The European Investment Bank has financed the technical counseling and Værum-Ørum has invested DKK 17 mio. in the solar heating plant and the building for the technical installations.
